First ASA Plugfest for PMA Electrical CTS Demonstrates Reliability of ASA-ML Automotive High-speed Connectivity.
Successful Event in Hasselt, Belgium Brings Together Industry Leaders to Test and Validate Latest ASA PMA CTS Draft
ASA announces that it recently held the inaugural ASA Plugfest for PMA Electrical Compliance Test Specification (CTS) took place in Hasselt, Belgium. This significant event, organized by BitifEye and hosted by Resillion, was designed to test and validate the latest advancements in the ASA PMA CTS draft.
The Plugfest saw the participation of three leading test companies—Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, and Teledyne-LeCroy—alongside two innovative chip vendors, Aviva Links and VSI. During the event, four tests were executed according to the most recent ASA PMA CTS draft on both STP and Coax MDI. Additionally, exploration measurements were conducted for further tests, expanding the scope of the evaluations.
The event yielded a successful outcome, demonstrating that the test implementations on the ASA PMA CTS draft functioned effectively. Test results generally showed strong agreement among the test vendors, with only occasional outliers. This collaborative effort and the insights gained from the Plugfest will be instrumental in refining the ASA PMA CTS draft and the associated test software, thus enhancing the standard’s maturity.
Participants shared positive feedback about the event. BitifEye expressed their excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to organize and support such a Plugfest Event, especially in the early stages of an emerging standard. This presents a deep dive into technology, which is always exciting.”
Resillion added, “We are proud to host this test event in our offices. We’re continuing our journey towards excellence and innovation, and are looking forward to hosting many more future Plugfest events. Thanks to BitifEye partnering with us for this event.”
Aviva Links emphasized the value of the event, noting, “Great organization and location, such an event is very important to have a reality check on the CTS implementations and have the feedback on the implementations.”
VSI, a Microchip company, underscored the importance of industry collaboration, saying, “It is imperative the industry has an open, real multi-vendor and interoperable solution for camera connectivity. ASA-ML is this first solution, and Microchip is glad to participate in this initial, successful, and valuable Plugfest, and looks forward to supporting more ASA-ML interoperability activities in the future.”
Keysight highlighted their commitment to the development of ASA standards: “Keysight develops test solutions for various high-speed interfaces, including the next generation of standardized Automotive SerDes. We are very excited to contribute to the development of ASA test specifications and test solutions that will enable broad-scale interoperability in the automotive industry.”
Teledyne LeCroy noted their pioneering role in the field, stating, “Teledyne LeCroy is a pioneer in creating vehicle bus test tools, supporting more than twenty automotive bus technologies, from kb/s to Gb/s, and is pleased to be at the forefront of ASA.”
Rohde & Schwarz reiterated their dedication to automotive testing: “Rohde & Schwarz, a technology-leading expert in automotive testing, is happy to support the first ASA-ML Plugfest to verify its capabilities and help provide the automotive industry with optimum asymmetric SerDes connectivity.”
Overall, the first ASA Plugfest for PMA Electrical CTS was a resounding success, fostering collaboration and innovation that will propel the development and adoption of the ASA standard forward.
About Automotive SerDes Alliance
