Benefits

ASA was launched to reflect the need of communication for mainly camera and display applications especially for the Automotive industry. Main participants are experts out of the Automotive industry.

Integration

By focusing the industry on a common SerDes communication technology, manufacturers of complex products such as microcontrollers or graphics controllers can rely on one industry standard interface.

Ecosystem

In addition to the pure transmission technology, which is mainly integrated in the PHY, other components for use in the vehicle are of utmost importance. For example, ASA specifies the channel parameters, so that a valid ecosystem for cables and connectors is available to the implementers. Furthermore, to further the ecosystem, ASA not only provides the transceiver interoperability test specification, it also provides test specifications for channel components, physical layer tests on chip and ECU level, and EMC tests.

Interoperability

By providing industry specifications that are available to all members, a large variety of interoperable devices can be created by different companies. All companies active in the automotive industry are invited to become a member of ASA and participate in the technical committees to further improve the technology.
