Automotive SerDes Alliance Announces Industry’s First ASA-ML Interoperability Between Sony Semiconductor Solutions and AVIVA
Live Demonstration to be showcased in BMW booth at Automotive Ethernet Congress in Munich

MUNICH, GERMANY – March 5, 2024 – The Automotive SerDes Alliance (ASA), a non-profit industry alliance of automotive technology providers standardizing asymmetric high-speed communication, today announced the industry’s first ASA-Motion Link (ASA-ML) interoperability between Sony Semiconductor Solutions (Sony) and AVIVA. This significant industry milestone will be showcased live at the BMW booth at the Automotive Ethernet Congress (AEC). The demonstration will include end-to-end system implementation of high-speed video transmission from Sony’s IMX728 automotive sensor to a GPU using the ASA-ML protocol for communication between Sony’s Serializer and AVIVA’s Deserializer.
“Demonstrating multi-vendor interoperability between independently developed ASA-ML solutions is a key step towards widescale market adoption of the standard,” said Dr. Kirsten Matheus, Chair of the ASA Physical Layer Technical Committee. “As the number of high-resolution cameras and displays increases in next-generation vehicles, having an open, interoperable ecosystem will deliver the cost, performance, and security benefits the industry needs when moving towards autonomous driving.”
